Hard to say as a Canadian, but we have what is called " crown land"  basically owned by no one, and you can camp on it whenever you like. So I would say, look into it and see if you guys have the same thing down there.

From what some of my friends have told me you guys out midwest and east dont have the public lands like we do on the west coast. Ill set a tent at a State park as a hotel type of option because of the showers, but if Im going to camp or hunt I am on Forrest Service or BLM lands the whole time.

Pretty hard to find a good wild place here in Germany but i'm traveling to sweden on friday for a 14-day trekking tour. I just love the Skandinavian Countries for their "relaxed" laws and their breathtaking wilderness.

The best country i've ever seen was in wyoming, but since i live in oklahoma i don't get up that way much.  My favorite personal spot is 5 miles into the hills just north of the Ft.gibson dam.  Theres a nice flat meadow with a clear sand bottom creek running through it and at the bend of the creek theres a "pond" about 10 feet deep with a huge boulder in it.  Good fishing and no one owns it.  I've never seen any other camp sign, so i'm guessing i'm the only one who's found it.  Next time i'm up i'll get some pictures.

My favorite place in the world is Odessa Lake. It's located in the Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park near Estes Park, Colorado. Theres just something about being miles and miles away from anyone else and having a whole lake to yourself. Another fun place to camp is Marquette, Michigan. (I'm sure Bruce can attest)-lots to do.

On the Eastern side of U.S it has loads of forrestry land and WMA lands. Problem is most folks don't know how to read the signs we have here. They are posted by US boundary signs. Most folks here thinks it means KEEP OUT!!!

I know here in GA you now need a yearly permit to use most of the WMA now...

Lately I've spent a lot of time along one of the rivers locally near a boat landing on public land but in the past I've mostly stuck to national forest. I could pretty much drive 30 minutes in any direction with the exception of due south and be on national forest land.

For those around the central east coast, I love going out to the Monongahela National Forest. When I go hiking, one of the most enjoyable aspects is getting away from people. (Those in Northern VA will probably understand why.) MNF is absolutely huge; as far as eastern standards go. More often than not, I don't run into anyone. Winter hiking even more so. Most of the area is well maintained and there is a good variety of difficulty. And it is also well documented....trails maps. If you're in my area, hit me up and I'll point in the direction of some good trails.

that's cause they only know text spelling and can't read signs in plain english...LMAO.i prefer camping in the state owned primitive camping areas here in the N.Y. area it's free ,the first 3 nights no permit needed if longer you apply for a permit (no cost)

So far, I've camped at state parks, and national parks. I've traveled cross country from north to south, and east to west. I like historical places, and national parks. usually find a spot to pitch a tent, or sleep in back of jeep. but also grew up in Vermont, and like the green mountain forest to. now living in Florida, and been to ocala national forest once so far, and will be going again shortly. I love the outdoors, sitting by the fire,. listening to nature, being part of it. I'm not as experienced of an outdoorsman as most of u r, that is why I joined this site, looking to learn from the video's, and find new places.
